The following steps are for setting up monitoring on one Linux computer or server at a time.
> Click here to log into Monro Cloud Monitoring.
> Log in with either your mobile number or email address.
> The following requires a Proxy Server to be created to securely send the data to the cloud.
> If you have not installed a proxy yet, follow this simple 10 minute guide.
Before proceeding, let's make sure the connection to the proxy is working.
> From within the Monro Cloud Monitoring Dashboard, click Monitoring.
> Click Hosts.
> You will see a default host called Gateway-CompanyName
> Click Latest Data
> If the Last Value is less than 5 minutes, the proxy is syncing correctly.
> If it is greater than 5 minutes, contact support at support@monrocloud.com if you need assistance.
Now that we have confirmed the Proxy and Monro Cloud are talking, lets setup SNMP on the Cisco device.
In this example we will use a pfSense Firewall 2.7.2-RELEASE (amd64).
> We will use SNMPv2, however we recommend using v3 to ensure encrypted traffic.
> Log into your pfSense Firewall.
> Navigate to Services > SNMP
> Enable SNMP by selecting Enable the SNMP Daemon and its controls.
> Leave defaultvalues.
> Click Save .
We now need to setup discovery rules for your proxy so Monro Cloud knows which devices to manage.
> Click here to access the tool.
> Select Yes
> Enter the email address registered with your account.
> Enter your Company name (Monitoring > Hosts > Gateway-CompanyName).
> Enter the IP range as either: single IP address, a range like 10.10.56.0-255 or multiple ranges like 10.10.56.0-255, 10.11.56.0-255.
> Enter an OID. Use .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.5.0 if unsure.
We now need to setup network rules for your proxy so Monro Cloud knows what devices and IP addresses to manage.
> Wait a few minutes for the verification to complete.
> You will be presented with your current discovery rules.
> If you have made a mistake, simply navigate to Delete Proxy Rules to delete them and start again.
> If you accidentally closed the page, use this tool to Get a List of Proxy Rules.
Behind the scenes, many automated tasks have been completed for you and you can now see your active devices.
Inside your Monro Cloud Monitoring account:
> Select Data Collection > Hosts
> You should now see the pfSense device, in this example the device was called pfSense.home.arpa.
> 12 Default Items are already monitoring your device such as Ping and Device Uptime.
> Step 11 will show you how to configure more granular monitoring.
> Click on your host from Data Collection > Hosts.
> Click Unlink next to Generic by SNMP.
> Click Select next to Templates.
> Click Select again.
> Select Templates.
> Select PFSense by SNMP or any other relevant template.
> Click Update.
> You will now see an extensive list of Items against the device.
> Select Dashboards to see active information about your pfSense appliance.
